DEI training could exacerbate racial tensions

Since 2020, DEI -diversity equity and inclusion – has gained momentum in workplaces, educational halls, as well as social media platforms. Some of the leaders of the movement, including Ibram Kendi and How to Be an Antiracist and Robin DiAngelo and White Fragility have focused on the notion that racism is everywhere and fundamentally embedded in White culture.

This study examines whether this “anti-racist mindset” is better or worse when it’s incorporated into DEI Training. Researchers from Rutgers’ Social Perception Lab and Network Contagion Research Institute – a nonprofit organization that studies “the spread of hostile ideological content” – conducted a study in order to determine if the writings of Kendi DiAngelo or Kendi had any effect on people’s perceptions of racism.
