According to Brightmine research, two-thirds (67%) of HR professionals use AI for their daily tasks.
Only a small percentage (3,6%) have integrated AI formally into their HR processes. They cite time pressures and a lack in skills as barriers.
According to Brightmine, almost four out of ten organisations (38.8%), have not yet begun their AI journey. 60% cited a lack in time as the primary obstacle. The same percentage felt that they did not have the knowledge necessary to integrate AI in their daily work.
Around a third (32%) of organisations said that their organizations had formal AI usage guides. Brightmine found this to be more prevalent among smaller organizations (under 250 employees) where 60% of them had no guidelines or policies.
Even if AI was not used in a formal way, employers with over 1,000 employees were more likely than others to have tried it.
Nearly half of these organisations have developed guidelines, policies or principles around AI. 67.5% HR teams at larger employers have experimented. These teams felt that AI could save them time.
Brightmine found that there were also significant differences between sectors. Four out of ten non-profits are concerned about AI’s effect on job security. 45% public sector HR teams have not even experimented AI.
Sheila Attwood is the senior content manager for HR Data and Insights, Brightmine. She said that HR professionals are eager to adopt AI. However, without clear guidelines and the right skills, they could make poor decisions and miss opportunities.
Organisations that invest in training, policies and support now can transform AI from an individual productivity boost to a strategic advantage for their organisation.
While many HR professionals embrace AI, some organizations still lack a clearly defined adoption strategy. This divide must be bridged as technology advances. It will lead to greater efficiency, better decisions and better management of the workforce.
