Each year, the beginning of April brings an increase in a number HR-related limits and rates. The national minimum wage, maximum compensation limits in unfair dismissal, and rates for SMP, and other statutory payments, have all increased.
In April, the “Vento Bands” were increased. These are guidelines that tell tribunals how much compensation for injury to feelings should be given in a discrimination case depending on its severity.
Injuries to feelings awards compensate the victim for their distress, not any financial loss.
