Travelodge recruits flexible staff for its recruitment drive

Travelodge is launching a recruitment campaign to fill over 270 positions. It will give staff the choice of hours and work.

More than 13,000 employees work in the more than 600 hotels that are spread across the UK and Ireland.

There are many jobs available, including full-time and part-time hotel managers and assistants, bar and café staff, housekeepers and receptionists.

The company previously targeted parents with children who needed hours to fit around holidays and school hours, as well as students who chose to work both at home and on campus.

Travelodge director of people operations Katharine Gourley said: “Travelodge aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to earn more, learn more and belong.”

While it may be harder for employers in the hospitality sector to offer flexible work options, many are now looking into how technology can help them support shift patterns that are more flexible or give employees more autonomy.

Employment Rights Bill is expected to be released tomorrow (10th October). Some in the industry are concerned that the requirement to provide employees with a contract reflecting their normal hours of work will be restrictive.
