A weekend treat: After years of requesting an increase, the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders now have a pay raise that is “life-changing”.
Netflix’s recently released America’s Sweethearts – Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders reveals that the 36 cheerleaders of the team have received a 400% raise in anticipation of the 2025 NFL Season. Negotiations for future contract increases were led by a small group with the HR and legal staff of the team.
The squad receives payment for home football matches, shows, and promotional appearances.
The group started its campaign for a higher game rate in 2019 due to financial stress and multiple job concerns. In the series, several members hesitated before signing their contract for the next year. They also considered staging a walkout should their employer not listen to them.
Although their salaries aren’t disclosed, veterans could earn around $150,000 (PS109.933) per annum. Experienced people can earn more.
Megan McElaney said that she has been part of the squad for 4 years and “our efforts were heard, they wanted to give us an increase.” We ended up with a 400% raise, which was life-changing.
Kristin Westbrook, a former member of the team, posted on Instagram about the pay structure and explained that members also receive flat fees for other performances. She stated: “When I used to be on the team it was $15 per hour (PS10.99). The flat fee was $100 (PS73.29), multiplied by the number of years spent on the team. “A rookie would earn $100 while a second year veteran would earn 200 (PS146.58) and so on.”
Members said they hoped the new agreement would provide some financial security, which was lacking in their previous compensation package. However, they do not have health insurance.
It sounds like a good pay increase to us!
