After visiting 50 countries, I learned a lot about leadership and company culture.

This week, I visited my 50th country – South Africa. I am a more adventurous traveler than the average person and I will only visit a select few countries, mainly those in which active wars are taking place. My 17-year old daughter, who is much more adventurous than I am, insists that we should just stay in “safe” areas. I have a valid passport and I am not afraid to use one.

What can I share with you that will be useful to your business, and HR professionals in particular? What I would like to share.

Culture is important

You may have heard the stereotype ” ugly American”. I can assure you that it is based on the observations of American tourists who don’t understand that every country is not like theirs. It’s not only “ugly Americans” who behave this way. I’ve observed people from around the world. Travelers from different countries often have a hard time respecting local cultures.
