As adults, we don’t have to ask permission from anyone to use the bathroom. We take it for granted.
A woman recently asked Reddit’s Legal Advice subreddit if her employer could fire her if she needed more bathroom breaks during pregnancy?
She is pregnant and works at a call centre. The company has threatened to terminate her if she takes longer than 10 minutes of bathroom breaks during a shift. She wrote:
I am pregnant (with complications), and currently working for a large credit-union in Colorado. My doctor wrote a detailed and very clear letter explaining the medical necessity of additional bathroom breaks. I requested this as a reasonable accommodations. My request, their answer, and all medical documentation are in writing.
