Kathryn Dolan is appointed as the Chief People Officer at Mitie


In the last week, two of the UK’s largest service firms made HR appointments at the senior level.

Mitie has named Kathryn Dolan as its new Chief People Officer.

Dolan has held positions in several multinational companies, including those in the automotive, technology and professional services sectors. Her last role was as the Group Chief HR Officer for Bureau Veritas. This global testing, certification and inspection company is based in Paris. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a certified leadership coach.

Mitie Dolan said that she would be leading and evolving the company’s strategy for people and culture, drawing on her expertise in digital and business transformations, employee engagement and talent acquisition, reward and inclusion and equity and diversity.

Dolan described Mitie’s transformation as “exciting and exciting.” She added that she was looking forward to using her experience to “continue to build a brilliant atmosphere where all of our people can flourish.”

Phil Bentley, the chief executive of the London-based firm, said that: “We’re proud of the people we’ve hired and the culture they’ve created. Kathryn’s vast experience will help us to continue our ambitious growth strategy.”

Mitie has approximately 72,000 employees.

Hilary Goldby Compass Group UK & Ireland

Hilary Goldby is now the HR director for Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Business and Industry sector.

Compass stated that Goldby has 19 years experience in HR across various sectors. From Tesco to GEOAmey, Dixons Carphone and Dixons Carphone. Compass also said Goldby’s commercial approach focused on talent development, employee engagement, and inclusivity programs.

Compass’ Business and Industry division includes contract caterers Eurest and Dine, as well as integrated facility management provider 14forty. Both are led by CEO Morag Freathy.

Goldby will report directly to Freathy, and Laraine Kemp, the people director of Compass Group UK & Ireland. Compass Group UK & Ireland employs approximately 10,000 people.

Morag Freathy stated: “We are ambitious and Hilary’s strategic insight and experience will be vital to achieving our goals.”

Goldby has started analysing the ways in which the people agenda could be at the core of delivering excellence within the firm. Compass Group UK & Ireland, as part of its Social Promise has committed to support one million people both within and outside the organization by 2030.

The company works to improve people’s lives and enhance their opportunities through education, training, and community engagement.

Goldby stated: “I have spent time working in many different businesses, including retail, contracting and supply chain, giving me a broad perspective on people strategies.

“I was looking for a company that would be both ambitious and people-centric, and Compass B&I is that business.

“My role as a manager is to motivate and nurture our teams. This will ensure that we have the most qualified people who can deliver results for the company. “It’s a very exciting role.”
